About Mel

Mel is our family guard dog and a loving faithful companion. Within a close family circle he is absolutely loving , sweet, gentle, affectionate, interactive and playful. He is very clever and he knows what he wants or doesn’t want. He is 100% loyal to us as his owners. He doesn’t trust strangers and anyone coming to our house must be gently introduced because Mel is protective. He is NOT aggressive but he does instinctively guard what needs to be guarded as he is meant to. He does not attack or bite but he will threaten by a warning bark, impressive growling and hackling his fur to look even bigger and less friendly. He has exceptional hearing and scent instincts. We take him wanders to woods , beaches together with our border collie. Mel loves spending time in nature he loves to run free , loves playing with ball and loves gentle and loving training ! He is very sensitive underneath it all and a loving and gentle attitude is essential to get the best out of him. It’s best to be firm, persistent and very patient because he is a little stubborn sometimes, with that said , he never does anything he knows would get him into trouble as he wants to be a good dog. We also take him and our collie to restaurants sometimes and they are fine just chilling beside the table in a leash. He is very trainable with the gentle and firm attitude and he walks well on and off lead . He is treated with affection and play not treats which works great for him. We socialised him as puppy but when he grew up, being a full dominant and competitive dog we stopped. Since then we don’t let him play with other dogs other than our border collie who he adores and they get on perfectly together. He tolerates other dogs under our guidance when in the lead. He does look very intimidating and scary when he guards and he is gorgeous dog in general , anyone who sees him loves his majestic look. Because of his size and look he evokes respect in strangers. We do hope that his offspring’s will be treated with love and care and serve as an amazing companions and guardians just like Mel himself. We hope they will experience a loving trusting bond with their owners so that they can safely fulfil their potential as companions and guardians and have a good life. We got Mel from a breeder breeding from guard dogs and as such, he has been perfect in his role. He has prey drives for squirrels and deers (doesn’t attack, just nosyness), follows commands on and off lead and is very trainable. He absolutely loves company and affection. He is a tall, straight backed male with medium hair and strikingly jet white coat (unless he finds mud). He is healthy, well cared for, he also has his international health checked passport and up to date with flea/wormer. Pictures show Mel as he grew throughout all changes until present day .
