About Darla

We got Darla as a second dog in our home to be a good companion to our first pup, an Australian Shepard. We purchased Darla from local bear and raccoon hunters. Unfortunately Darla is very instinctive and we do not offer the lifestyle in which she needs. She is a very driven, vocal dog who loves hard. She does get along with other dogs and people but it takes her a moment to adjust to her surroundings. She has a few flaws like everyone. She doesn’t like getting her nails trimmed, she will pull away and whine. She has to be leashed or in a fence when she goes outside or that hound nose of hers will make her bolt. She’s doesn’t do too well in the car: we think she gets anxiety so when we do take her in the car, we need to give her an anxiety gummy. Other than those few things we think she’s an amazing dog. Like mentioned before she is instinctive so unfortunately she would not do well around kids as she doesn’t realize her strength or how large she is. We are hoping to expand our family soon and would not be able to do that with Darla. We are looking for a family who are hunting oriented that can give her the work she drives for and love on her unconditionally. Darla is short-haired which means she gets cold. Expect to see her in bed with you every night trying to wiggle her way into your blankets! She is quite the hoot sometimes. She is a very loving dog who likes to talk but more than that she loves her treats, more specifically her pig ears!
