Why rehoming the pet
Looking to rehome our 4 year old male German shepherd for a small rehoming fee. Axel is a smart, loyal, energetic dog who loves being groomed and staying active. Can have anxiety but has never chewed or tore up the house. Husband has taken him to work with him since he was a puppy. Gets along with most other dogs and has never been an aggressor and has grown up with another dog his whole life . Responds best to male caretakers. We have a two year old son and recently Axel has grown weary of him resulting in a bite incident regarding his food bowl and an evening in the ER. This was a weird anomaly since he’s never been food aggressive ( we don’t feed near toddler) or aggressive in general in the past. Does fine with older children who know boundaries and listen to those boundaries (unlike a toddler) We need to find a space for him that he feels safe and being around small kids isn’t the place for him. We have never let our child stand, sit, play on, hit or anything on Axel so he could learn those boundaries at a young age. He spends most his time outdoors in our large fenced yard and would prefer that. Food and beds are in heated garage and comes in at night or when cold. House trained. Fixed. Up to date on vaccinations. Trained to stay off furniture but would love to be able to sleep there if he could ( we broke him of this when we got pregnant) He knows basic commands: sit, stay, come, no, out, load up, shake (always been a little too chubby to roll over) He recently stayed out on a friends ranch so he has grown acclimated to livestock and many other animals. He’s a good boy and trying to rehome him has been devastating to our family we just can’t take the chance of something happening again as the safety of our child comes first.
